Board Meeting Dates added Friday, December 30, 2011
The Merrifield View Board of Directors meets regularly to discuss and vote on the normal business of running the association. All members are welcome to attend board meetings. A time for owners' comments is scheduled at the beginning of each meeting.

Meetings are normally held at 7 pm at either a board member's home or at a nearby school. Please check this website for details.

Board Accomplishments for 2011 added Wednesday, October 26, 2011
For those members unable to attend the annual meeting of members, a summary of Board accomplishments during 2011 was provided. They have been very busy behind the scenes. Take a look:

Renewed membership with Providence District Council

Administrative & Contracts

Changed banks for operating funds to enable on-line payment capabilities.
Competitively bid and negotiated trash contract up for renewal in 2011. Approved a 3-year contract beginning 5/1/11 at a significant savings.
Competitively bid landscaping and snow removal services contracts up for renewal in 2012. This process resulted in a change of service providers for landscaping services to begin 1/1/12 and snow removal services to begin Winter 2011. A 3-year contract was awarded.
Capital Maintenance and Replacement Reserve update completed for 2011.
Performed 5-Year Operating Budget Outlook for Planning Purposes.
Federal and State Income Tax returns completed and filed by CPAs.
Full Financial Audit of Association Books and Records for the year ending 12/31/10 is still in progress.
Filed required annual reports with Virginia State Corporation Commission and Common Interest Community Board.
Property Owners Association Disclosure Packages have been provided to 3 homes.

Maintenance & Improvements

The following common area maintenance was completed:

Re-aligned 1,746 square feet of concrete sidewalk using a drill and fill approach vs. a remove and replace approach.
Seasonal flowers at all court entrances.
Parking lot sweeping.
Inspection of common area trees by Certified Arborist.
Completed pruning or removal of approximately 24 common area trees.
Continued tree fertilization program.
Inject four Sycamore trees with Fungisol capsules to suppress Sycamore Anthracnose.
Drainage and erosion projects: installation of retaining wall on common area next to 2803 Lafora Court to address erosion due to water flow to storm drain. Installation of a rock swale on the common area next to 2820 Balliett Court to address erosion due to water flow down hillside. Addition of rip rap and extension of rock swale on the common area at the side of 2815 Balliett to address water run-off.
Miscellaneous pruning, seeding and clean-up projects and storm damage clean-up by handyman – throughout community.
Sand barrels.
Repainted common area step noses for better visibility.
2011 Home Maintenance Inspections
Removal of dead vegetation at Balliett Court island and replacement with low growing Azaleas
Replacement of several rusted no parking sign.
Routine street light repairs to 3 poles

Replacement of court entrance signs.

Planned work:
Extend common area fence dividing rear of 2802 - 2804 Lafora from neighboring single family home due to cut through by contractors.
Normal maintenance for Hilltop Road and Evelyn Court: asphalt repairs as needed, crack filling, seal coating, reserve header painting, yellow curb painting. Estimates are pending.
